To the Bucknell Community,
Recently the new BSG Executive Board prematurely removed an important and effective green policy for the Appropriations Committee.
Last year, the BSG VP of Finance made it a policy that clubs were to project their budget requests onto a screen rather than print out copies for each of 16 Appropriations Committee members. With over 150 clubs and organizations, requiring each club to print 16 copies could total to 4,800 pages if every organization submitted a two-page budget request.
The paper conservation program reduced the number of pages to 0.
Despite this fact, the BSG Executive Board believes they can make better financial decisions with the information on paper rather than on a screen. The board blamed the green policy for causing them to briefly "misplace" $53,000 instead of acknowledging their likely negligence or human error.
Sixteen Bucknell-educated students viewing the same information would hopefully be able to recognize this mistake.
Please sign our petition to reinstate this progressive green policy and easily make a real impact to support paper conservation.
Thanks for your support!
